Most people desire change: changes to their bodies, changes on the scale, changes in their lives that make them happier and healthier.
However, most people also resist and fear making changes: changes that lead to better bodies, changes that lower the number on the scale, and changes that create happier and healthier lives.
And therein lies the rub. We all want change, but we’re unwilling to change.
Better bodies and better lives don’t happen by continuing to do what isn’t working. Is your life stagnant? Has the scale not moved in several months? Have you been stuck at a plateau? Do you feel like you’re heading nowhere?
Here are three changes you can make now to get you out of that rut and headed toward something better:
Change your workout.
Remember back when you started a new workout routine and committed yourself to it? Remember the progress you made and the improvements you saw? Remember how good you felt?
It’s time to feel that way again. Unfortunately, you probably can’t get there by doing that same workout again. Your body has adjusted to that routine. It needs a new challenge.
No one workout is a workout for life. Find your next great routine and commit yourself to it.
Change your eating.
Just like your workouts, your nutrition plan needs constant tweaking and revamping. There is a world of healthy food out there. Try sampling fruits and vegetables that you haven’t tried before. Try new recipes that add lean proteins and healthy fats to your diet. Try eating to fuel and repair your body, not just to lose weight.
Make each meal and snack have a purpose. Make sure the calories you consume are getting you closer to where you want to be.
Change your goal.
One of the reasons we stop making progress is a lack of purpose. Maybe at one time your goal was to lose some weight. And maybe you lost weight. Now what? Unless you are completely satisfied with how you look and feel, it’s time to set a new goal.
Your new goal doesn’t have to be about weight loss. It could be some other aesthetic goal, such as body fat percentage or dress size. It could be something more physical, like how fast you can run a 5K or how many pushups you can do in a minute.
The point is to continue setting goals. A goal never set can never be achieved.
So, if you still desire to see changes in your body and your life, be willing to make the changes that lead you there. The next great version of you is just a few changes away.
